Compensation: $180 per hour + travel and lodging provided
Position Summary
K’ima:w Medical Center, a Rural Health Clinic serving the
Yurok and Karuk Tribes, is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Chief
Medical Officer (CMO) to oversee its medical team and clinical operations. The
CMO provides leadership across all medical services, ensuring high-quality,
culturally sensitive care to the community. This role combines administrative
oversight with hands-on clinical practice and offers an opportunity for
long-term placement in a rewarding, community-based setting.
Key Responsibilities

Lead all medical operations, setting standards
for quality care and provider productivity.
·
Supervise and mentor physicians, nurse
practitioners, and other medical staff.
·
Direct credentialing, privileging, and peer
review processes.
·
Develop and enforce medical policies in
compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards.
·
Collaborate with leadership and the Board to
evaluate and strengthen health programs.
·
Support recruitment, onboarding, and continuing
education for medical providers.
·
Maintain an active outpatient clinical practice
providing family medicine services.
·
Report to the CEO on departmental performance,
budgeting, and operations.
Qualifications
·
MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
·
Minimum of two (2) years in a leadership or
management role.
·
Current, unrestricted license to practice
medicine in California (or any U.S. state).
·
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification (or obtained
within six months of hire).
·
Strong leadership, communication, and
organizational skills.
·
Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to
work effectively with Native American or rural communities.
