Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Health Administrator, the Dentist will provide and deliver general dentistry services at the Anav Tribal Health Clinic (ATHC) of the Quartz Valley Indian Reservation (QVIR).
Services will be provided in accordance with ATHC, State, Federal, and Tribal guidelines, ensuring the highest standards of dental care for the American Indian population of Siskiyou County.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This role focuses primarily on patient care and includes the following:

Oral prophylaxis.

Periodontics.
-
Diagnosis and treatment planning.
-
Prevention and patient education.
-
Emergency care (per “Dental Emergencies” policy).

Restorative and cosmetic dental procedures.
-
Prosthetics.
-
Referrals for specialty care as required.

Referrals to other health center departments as necessary.
-
Oral surgery.
-
Endodontics.
-
Demonstrates age-specific competence in working with:
• Infants
• Toddlers
• Preschool
• School Age
• Adolescents
• Early Adult
• Young Adult
• Middle Adult
• Geriatric -
Maintains cooperation, communication, and good morale among all members of the Dental Department while monitoring quality assurance.

Adheres to confidentiality and HIPAA policies.

Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Health Administrator.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
-
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) required.

Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in dentistry.

Knowledge of dental principles, practices, and techniques.

Experience in oral health prevention and patient education preferred.
Language Skills:
-
Ability to effectively communicate with the Dental Director, staff, and patients.

Proficient in reading and interpreting regulations, professional journals, and technical procedures.

Able to assist in writing reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Familiarity with rules, policies, and standards governing dental services.
Mathematical Skills:

Competent with basic math concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Reasoning Ability:

Skilled in defining problems, collecting data, and drawing valid conclusions.
Computer Skills:

Proficient in word processing, email, and electronic dental records (EDR) systems.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
-
Current California dental license (required).

CPR certification.
-
Valid California driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and auto insurance.
-
Current registration number from the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.
-
No disciplinary actions imposed by the California Dental Board within the past five years.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle dental instruments, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and communicate effectively.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Assignment Details
