ID: 57667090 Shift: 12 Hour Days 6am-6pm Nights 6pm-6am Description: POSITION PURPOSE Under the direct supervision of the Chief Nurse Officer (CNO), assist patients in meeting self-care and daily needs. SUMMARY All employees are expected to perform their duties as set forth here and in accordance with all policies, procedures, and Mission, Values, and Vision of Catalina Island Medical Center CIMC. The person doing this job is responsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of customer satisfaction with respect and dignity. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Aids in activities of patients daily needs. 2. Performs treatments and procedures not requiring sterile techniques. 3. Records and reports observation of patients to immediate supervisor, including temperatures, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, daily intake, and output. 4. May transport patients, equipment, and supplies. 5. May do surgical preps and may assist in the preparation of patients for treatment and examination. 6. Bathes bed-confined residents or assists resident in self bathing. 7. Assist residents with meals as necessary, 8. Assists and interacts with residents families as necessary and appropriate. 9. Cleans and reports condition of equipment. ORGANIZATIONAL FUNCTIONS 1. Be compliant with organizational policies and procedures and related departmental procedures. 2. Follow all HIPAA regulations as outlined in the HIPAA Policy and Procedure Manual. 3. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. 4. Excellent customer service skills for both inter and intra department. 5. Other duties as assigned by the physicians and Supervisor. 6. Other general administrative duties and projects as assigned. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 1. Ability to deal with a variety of patients, staff, health care providers, and community representatives. 2. Medical group office experience/private practice. 3. Knowledge of standard practices, rules, and regulations related to licensed practical nursing. Attitude 1. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in a Critical Access/ Rural Health Clinic environment. It involves frequent contact with patients, physicians, and other CIMC staff. Work may have heavy emotional requirements. Interaction with others is constant and interrupted. The employee could be exposed to communicable disease, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions that are common to the clinical environment. Safety policies and good health practices are expected to be understood and observed. Physical / Mental Demands 1. Work closely with patients in all age categories. Patients are treated with care and compassion and with special regard for age-specific considerations. 2. Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting. Requires full range of body motion including lifting, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. 3. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. 4. Manual dexterity to operate a computer, telephone, copier, fax, and other such office equipment and medical equipment, as necessary. 5. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range. 6. Ability to work in stressful situations. 7. Fast and continuous work pace with variable workload. 8. Subject to many interruptions from multiple calls and inquiries and potentially emotional situations involving accidents, injuries and/or death. 9. Handle emergency/crisis situations in accordance with policy. 10. Potential risk of exposure to hazards from blood borne pathogens and infectious diseases. 11. Potential risk of exposure to hazards from chemicals (toxic and non-toxic, flammable materials gas and electrical or radiant energy or equipment with or without moving parts). EDUCATION CERTIFICATION Current and valid California Certification for Nursing Assistant. EXPERIENCE Three to Six months experience in SNF setting. REQUIREMENTS 1. Valid CNA certification Additional Information:Housing is a studio apartment and is offered at $200 per week paid for by traveler. There is a $200 non-refundable cleaning fee. Boat Tickets are provided at the ferry ticket counter. No personal automobiles are allowed on the Island. Position Urgency:Normal Billing string = Medefis Guaranteed Hours: 36 Contract Weeks:91
